INGREDIENTS

1/2 cup dates, pitted
1/2 cup walnuts
1/2 cup raisins, dark or golden
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
2 tbsp. cocoa or carob powder
Walnuts, ground

INSTRUCTIONS

Grind together dates, raisins, cocoa (or carob powder), walnuts and sunflower seeds in a food processor or meat grinder. Press the mixture into 24 small balls. Roll in the ground nuts. Store in an airtight container.

Yah know what, I think these are pretty good. I halved the recipe, but forgot to half the cocoa, though, so I ended up with a mixture that was a little more tough to work with, but that definitely tasted more chocolatey, which I think is a plus. They're a really great way to satisfy a chocolate craving sans the sugar and whatever other bad stuff they throw in there. July 24, 2010
