( Sorry, I couldn't keep this under 140 characters )
Alright, so I've been using Twitter for a couple of weeks now. Check that, I've actually had an account for about 4 months, but I didn't use the account because I just couldn't figure out what the point was. Sure, I get that its social media. I get that it's bite-sized information about a person's life, there whereabouts, happenings, destinations, etc. But having a 140 character limit means that you have to be very conscious about focusing the conversation so that you can enable your readers to know exactly where you're coming from.
Twitter does allow one person to keep up with tiny tidbits from of other people's lives. But that doesn't cut it for me. I prefer quality over quantity, and having a wide array of mediocre friends is not as appealling as having a small number of great friends.
I'm not going to give up on Twitter. It's too hot, and as a techie there's so much to gain by watching people interact in the digital realm. I'll continue to pitch in, to tweet my peeps, but I really wish it was more enjoyable.

No need to twit.
Twitter is like the buzzing of a fly which is constantly inserting itself into your data stream but offering very little of any meaning. Twitter is the giant 7-11 coffee of social networking and I'm an espresso lover myself.
I've given up on both twitter and myspace. They take room in my life that can't be filled with anything else while they are there. Ever see a really bad movie and leave thinking "I want my time back! I don't care about the money but I want that portion of my life not spent on that, I want my time back!". That's twitter for me, it just grabs your time in small enough increments that you don't feel so bad unless you stop to look at the big picture.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they are there, I'm just not gonna use them. They are the first steps in the world of social networking and need to be taken to start the evolution. I'm okay with them sucking, I'm just not gonna use them until they get replaced by something better.
